What is black seed oil

Black Seed Oil has been used for centuries for medicinal purposes.
The oil is extracted from the seeds of the plant Nigella Sativa. Not only is the oil so powerful when it is consumed, the benefits in skincare is huge!
Black Seed Oil is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory making it excellent choice when using it as an ingredient for those with irritated skin types like eczema/psoriasis or those who suffer breakouts. The oil naturally contains a vast number of nutrients including vitamins, essential fatty acids, amino acids etc.
And heads up ladies (and gents!) – it’s also anti-ageing!
Honestly, the list of how good Black Seed Oil is is quite long!

Are your skincare products handmade?

Yes! All handmade in small batches.  All bottles and jars are hand poured by us and all soaps are individually hand wrapped!  Even though we use the same formulas and ingredients, please note that no two batches of skincare products will be the same!  With the soaps, you may find a couple of tiny bubbles  here and there which is normal.  On rare occasions, you may see a light layer of what looks like a white ash again, this is normal and will wash away upon use.  This is just the nature of handmade soap!

What method do you use when making soap?

The traditional method! Also known as the Cold Press method.
Cold Press soap is made by mixing or saponifying lye and oil. The resulting chemical reaction is soap! One of the main benefits of using the Cold Press method is that we have full control over what ingredients we can use in our soap!
However, using this method does require patience as after making and pouring the soaps into the molds, we have to wait 4-6 weeks for the soaps to cure.  The 4-6 week curing time allows the soap to dry and lower the ph balance as well as producing a really gentle, harder soap as excess water is evaporated.

How do I take care of my handmade soap?

It’s important that after using the soap, that they do not sit in a pool of water! It’s advisable to pop the soaps on a soap dish which has good drainage and let the soap air dry as much as possible between uses.  This will ensure that the soap lasts longer and avoids getting “mushy”.

Do you use SLS/SLES/Palm Oil or Petrochemicals?

No! And we don’t intend to either.  We source plant based ingredients as much as we can.

Are you products Vegan/Vegetarian

All our products are Vegan with the exception of our Ylang Ylang & Eucalyptus Black Seed Oil Balm which contains Beeswax as an alternative to petrochemicals.

Is your skincare range suitable for children?

Do we need to test patch if your products

Yes! Always, always do a test patch!  All our products carry the necessary Cosmetic Safety Assessments required.  However, each individual has different skin types.  It is your responsibility to check that our products are suitable for your skin type by doing a small patch test.  If you are unsure, all ingredients are listed under each product, so you can check if you have any ingredient allergies before purchasing.
